For people who live alone

The app for people who live alone

Tap once a day when you're fine. Miss it? Your trusted contacts are automatically notified — no GPS, no location sharing, no monitoring.

Lunio is a daily check-in app built for independent adults who live alone. You set a check-in interval — once a day, every 48 or 72 hours — and tap once to confirm you're okay. If you miss the window, your emergency contacts are automatically notified by email or SMS. No GPS. No background monitoring. Just one tap, and a safety net that works silently in the background.

Unlike location-sharing apps that require constant access to your whereabouts, Lunio is built on trust rather than surveillance. Your location is never collected, shared, or stored. You stay fully in control — and fully private.

How it works

Three steps. That's it.

Lunio is designed to stay out of your way. The whole routine takes about two seconds a day.

Set your interval

Choose your check-in schedule — daily, every 2 days, or every 3. You can adjust it at any time from Settings.

Tap when you're fine

One tap sends your signal. Push reminders arrive before your window closes so you never accidentally miss one.

Miss it? They're notified

If you don't check in within your grace period, your contacts get an email — followed by SMS on paid plans. You don't need to do anything.

No GPS. No surveillance.

Safety without being tracked

Most safety apps require constant location access or background activity monitoring. Lunio doesn't. Your whereabouts stay yours.

Zero location data

Lunio never requests, reads, or stores your location. Not in the background, not at check-in time, never.

Your contacts, your rules

You decide who gets notified. Contacts confirm their own invitation — no one gets added without their consent.

Email & SMS alerts

Email notifications are included on the free plan. Add SMS escalation for any contact on a paid plan — so a missed call never means a missed alert.

Safety Timer

Heading out for a solo hike or late-night run? Start a timed countdown. If you don't check back in, contacts are alerted automatically.

Pause any time

Staying with family? On holiday? Pause check-ins with one tap — no alerts will go out while you're paused.

Common questions

About Lunio for solo living

Is Lunio only for older adults or seniors?
No. Lunio is for any independent adult who lives or spends time alone. Most users are working-age adults — remote workers, solo travelers, young professionals, and outdoor enthusiasts. The app was designed to feel modern and unobtrusive, not clinical.
Does Lunio track my location?
No. Lunio never accesses or stores your location. There is no GPS tracking, no background monitoring, and no motion detection. A check-in is simply a tap — the app confirms you're okay, nothing more. See our Privacy Policy for the full picture.
What happens if I miss a check-in?
After your check-in window closes, you get a 60-minute grace period. If you still haven't checked in, your contacts are notified by email. On a paid plan, an SMS follows roughly 10 minutes later. Sending your signal at any point stops all further notifications.
Do my contacts need the app?
No. Your contacts don't need to download anything. They receive alerts by email (and SMS on paid plans). They do need to confirm their invitation once before Lunio can notify them — this protects everyone's privacy and prevents misuse.
How is this different from just texting someone every day?
Automation. With Lunio, if something goes wrong — you fall, you're in an accident, you're unwell — the alerts go out without you having to do anything. A manual text requires you to be able and remember to send it. Lunio works in the silence of a missed signal.
Is it free?
Yes. The free plan includes daily check-ins, push reminders, and email notifications for up to 3 contacts. Paid plans start at €1.99/month and add SMS notifications, the Safety Timer, a home screen widget, and up to 10 contacts.
